Giving

Why We Give?

At Fraser Coast Baptist Church, we believe giving is an act of worship and a response to God’s generosity towards us. Scripture encourages us to give from the heart, as we are led by the Holy Spirit, and to give cheerfully rather than reluctantly or under compulsion. We do not believe generosity can always be reduced to a particular percentage. While we are not opposed to the principle of tithing, giving 10% of our net income may be a generous response for some, while for others it may be too much or, in some circumstances, too little. Our desire is that each person prayerfully considers what generous and faithful giving looks like for them.

Where Does Your Giving Go?

Your giving enables Fraser Coast Baptist Church to fulfil the mission God has entrusted to us. It allows us to employ a full time pastor who can devote himself to studying God’s Word, preaching, teaching, praying and shepherding the church, as Scripture instructs.

It enables us to financially support missionaries in Australia and around the world who have been called by God to take the Gospel to places and people we may never reach ourselves.

It also provides the resources needed to operate our church and support the many ministries through which we serve, disciple and care for people in our congregation and wider community.

We also have a vision to do more. There are opportunities we would love to pursue and people we would love to reach, but at times our ability to respond to those opportunities is limited by the finances available to us. Your generosity helps create capacity for ministry.

When we give faithfully and generously, we make it possible for our church to continue doing what God has called us to do today while also preparing for what He may call us to do tomorrow.

Thank You for Giving towards FCBC

If you don’t hear it any other time, we thank you for giving towards Fraser Coast Baptist Church so we can live out the calling God has given us as a body of believers. As you’re probably aware, the church in Australia does not receive any money from the government. We’re thankful for the various entitlements churches have with not having their income taxed but it does mean that the financial capacity relies solely on the attendees.

Our prayer each week on a Sunday morning during the offering is that God gives us wisdom in stewarding the gifts that are offered as well as asking Him to multiply the gifts just as Jesus did to the crowd when more than 5000 people were fed by 2 fish and 5 loaves of bread.

We believe wholeheartedly that if God wants our church to continue flourishing, he’ll put it in people’s hearts to give. Below you will find various ways to give your offering:

Online Giving

At the present time, we only have one option to give online and that is by a direct transfer from your bank account into the church account.

This is available, for instance, if you miss a Sunday service and you would like to pay the same amount each week or you may be someone who would like to not have to worry about getting cash out on a weekly basis.

Therefore, an option for you would be to set up a recurring direct debit, which you can organise with your bank to automatically transfer funds into the church’s account every week, fortnight or month. This means that once you set it up, you don’t have to worry about it again.

If you are interested in participating in this kind of convenient giving, the church account details are as follows:

Account name: Fraser Coast Baptist Church
BSB: 034 134
Account number: 390812

Service Giving

Every Sunday, we have a time in the service where church attendees are provided an opportunity to give to the Lord. We believe that in giving to the church, you are giving to the Lord. A prayer of commitment is made before the offering takes place, asking God to multiply what we give and use it for the extension of His kingdom and ultimately, His glory. Please place your cash in the offering bag each Sunday as it is passed during the offertory time.

Text/Quick Giving

If you are a church member who is interested in make use of giving via text message, then we may be able to help you out. We have access to a service that offers this way of giving; however, it does come with fees so payments can be processed. It also does require a credit card; therefore, if it is not your usual practice to pay your credit card balance in full each month, the church would prefer that you use a different giving approach.

Non-Monetary Gifts

In some cases, Fraser Coast Baptist Church can accept non-cash gifts when they are suitable for the church’s use. If you have something in mind to donate, feel free to speak with one of the GLT who could assist you in determining whether your donation would be suitable.

Religious Instruction

Religious Instruction (RI) would not happen if it weren’t for the generosity of the local church. Who else would pay for the curriculum? And praise God, giving to support RI in Hervey Bay is tax-deductible. Would you please pray about giving towards this significant ministry in our town! See below for account details if God is leading you to give.

Fraser Coast Baptist Church supports the ministry of Religious Instruction 100%. We understand the significance it has in our community and the potential it has to change children’s lives. Pastor Tim is the secretary of Hervey Bay’s local RI Committee, whom are on the journey of finding the right person to fill the vacancy of a paid RI Coordinator. Unfortunately, Hervey Bay has a shortage of RI teachers. Currently, there are more students wishing to participate in RI than there are teachers, who are willing to take a class.

Therefore, we encourage you to pray about whether God wants you to become an RI Teacher. There are currently over 600 students, who have elected to participate in RI, but cannot because there are not enough volunteers available to teach. This is a sad reality! Maybe there’s one person in our congregation, whom God wants to teach RI.
